the battle of lunch time

Bo has started to prefer throwing his food to eating it.  At times this causes me some frustration...

Don't THROW the carrot!

Please don't hit me with your sippy cup!

In your MOUTH, not your hair!

At other times, when it is 75 degrees outside, I can forgo the frustration and just let him at it.  Those are the times to try new foods (like beets!) and let the birds clean up the mess.

(i liked this pear yesterday, but today i'm gonna THROW IT!)

(smash smash smash)

me? cause trouble?

all done, time for some  lounging:

47 weeks

Although the posting is delayed, this picture was taken on St. Patrick's Day - thus the green background and shirt OVER the Murray State shirt.  Because the Racers had a game that day... so we were making everyone happy.

pictures from the week:

And a video in which I hate my voice but Bo's hand motions are worth it:

daddy days

I just love it when Matt's around.  Lately he's been on call less and home more, but he's also been super diligent about getting stuff together for our life post-residency.  Basically this means paperwork, paperwork, phone calls, and paperwork.  It is tedious and stressful because it's important, and doesn't always go as smoothly as one would hope.  We are so close to the end!  Matt finishes his residency at the end of June and we'll move in July.  Matt's specialty of dental anesthesia is a little uncommon, but last week the New York Times published an article that describes what he does and why.  It is titled Rise in Preschool Cavities Prompts Anesthesia Use and I've brushed Bo's teeth every day since reading it.  Ok, sometimes twice a day.  :)  And yes, my husband has told me these facts before.  But I forget.  In fact, after reading that babies should go to the dentist around their first birthday to check for risk of cavities, I said, "Do you think we should schedule an appointment for him?"  To which Matt responded, "Are you serious?"  Yes, for a second there, I forgot . . . he may put people to sleep all day, but he's a dentist . . .  Anyway, read the article.  It's about Matt's life.

Despite the pressures of getting ready for our new life, it is a sweet season.  We are not packing yet, the days are warm and inviting, and we are enjoying the favorite things about of our Long Island life while anticipating the future.  We're spending time with our friends and visiting all the spots we love out here- which often means the beach.  We are excited about Nashville, but I heard it's a little landlocked.

a post-call monday lunch date.

This picture made me laugh.
Bo in his little man-sweater, with one hand on Moosey and one on a soccer ball.
Hello, Small Matthew.

I'm still working part-time and if the starts align and our schedules allow, Matt will keep Bo in the evenings and get the nighttime routine done.  After calling me so I could hear Bo's laughing fit in the bathtub, I came home to see Matt and Bo at their finest:

While this video would make it appear that we live in a trailer, that would just be our beautiful rental home bathroom.  Oh, 70-year-old farmhouse, you will NOT be at the top of my things-I-miss list!!

puppy love

It's no secret that we love our dog.

Moose is very wonderful, extremely patient, and though not without his quirks- a perfect dog to be around a baby.  Moose generally likes to be close to the action, or better yet - non-action.  He prefers for us to all sit on the couch together without moving. :)

(tolerant!)

So close that Bo can rub his fur while drinking his bottle.

Lately Bo started saying something that sounded like "puppy," so  we encourage that and practice with him.  Not sure where that came from but it sounds cool!  Maybe it goes hand in hand with Bo acting like a puppy.

playing in the water bowl
(This is not allowed, but he is a quick guy.
Poor Moose is often thirsty because his bowl is up out of Bo's reach.)

 carrying things in his mouth.

trying to eat dinner out of the dog bowl.

And - not pictured - I constantly have to take dog toys away from him.  Just now, I had to remove him from the center of Moose's dog bed, where Bo was chewing on a dog toy.
So gross.

Finally, some 'puppy' words and an example of Moose's infinite patience and sweet (sleepy) temperament.

Bo's new 'toy' - an applesauce container that I washed out for him.

Sporting a little bump on his noggin from one of his boyish tumbles.

sometimes i forget

Sometimes I get a little bogged down by the every-day, in-and-out, get-this-done.  I get distracted by the dust or the diapers or the rain, and I forget to be thankful for this house, a growing baby boy, and to thank God that at least it isn't snow.

In the last few days, two couples in our small group have heard back that the husbands got the job.  We've been praying for almost a year for them, and God answered with a wait, wait, wait, wait, YES!  And for both couples, it'll mean a move to a great location.  They are so joyful and we are so happy for them, sad to see them go, but so honored to be witness to God's provision.  It is obvious again that God loves to give good things.

And so, we share in their joy and remember that God has hemmed us in, and has us in the palm of His hand.  And in five months when we're driving cross-country or settling into another rental house or waiting for paperwork to go through or business to pick up . . . I can look back on this day when I so clearly saw God's faithfulness and know He knows what is before and behind us, and it doesn't worry him at all.
