I just love it when Matt's around. Lately he's been on call less and home more, but he's also been super diligent about getting stuff together for our life post-residency. Basically this means paperwork, paperwork, phone calls, and paperwork. It is tedious and stressful because it's important, and doesn't always go as smoothly as one would hope. We are so close to the end! Matt finishes his residency at the end of June and we'll move in July. Matt's specialty of dental anesthesia is a little uncommon, but last week the New York Times published an article that describes what he does and why. It is titled Rise in Preschool Cavities Prompts Anesthesia Use and I've brushed Bo's teeth every day since reading it. Ok, sometimes twice a day. :) And yes, my husband has told me these facts before. But I forget. In fact, after reading that babies should go to the dentist around their first birthday to check for risk of cavities, I said, "Do you think we should schedule an appointment for him?" To which Matt responded, "Are you serious?" Yes, for a second there, I forgot . . . he may put people to sleep all day, but he's a dentist . . . Anyway, read the article. It's about Matt's life.
Despite the pressures of getting ready for our new life, it is a sweet season. We are not packing yet, the days are warm and inviting, and we are enjoying the favorite things about of our Long Island life while anticipating the future. We're spending time with our friends and visiting all the spots we love out here- which often means the beach. We are excited about Nashville, but I heard it's a little landlocked.
a post-call monday lunch date.
This picture made me laugh.

Hello, Small Matthew.
I'm still working part-time and if the starts align and our schedules allow, Matt will keep Bo in the evenings and get the nighttime routine done. After calling me so I could hear Bo's laughing fit in the bathtub, I came home to see Matt and Bo at their finest:

yay for enjoying where you live with the anticipation of moving...something you know quite well!
praying for matt's specialized dental practice...
I can think of LOTS of things I would miss if I were you. I think the area you live in right now is quite dreamy! But I am sure the next has just as many perks if not more! I also read the article about Matt's work. So don't worry Matt- Jadon will visit the dentist by one!
