where in the world is idaho?

The main reason that Jenny stopped in New York was to give me a hand as we traveled all the way to Idaho for our friend Megan's wedding.  Meg is one of my sweetest friends.  I've known her since Taylor days and we also lived together in Charlotte.  The rest of us have heard about her crazy travel adventures trying to get back to Idaho to see her family.  Despite the distance, I'm so glad Megan decided to get married at one of her favorite spots in her home state.  Idaho is an important part of her, and it was time we made the visit!

Even though it took 18 hours door to door.  With a baby.  But we survived!  It actually went very well.

Thanks to an extra set of hands . . .

Over the fields of the midwest . . .

To the craggy landscape of the real West.

Bo missed out on the show . . . but it was better that way. :)

Five airports later, we met up with our friend Devan, who is pregnant with twins, and Erin, who brought her 2-month-old baby along.  I got a little emotional meeting Haddon for the first time! :)  We hopped into our rented minivan and tackled the 3.5 hour drive through windy mountain roads Stanley, ID.  At 1:30am we finally made it to the cute cabin Meg had scored for us, had a joyful reunion with the bride, and fell asleep.  In the morning, I was shocked to see this view from the living room:

WOW.
I just didn't know Idaho was like that!!

We spent the next couple of days enjoying the wilderness, the stunning views, and sweet company of friends I don't see often.  Bo and Haddon had some quality playtime.

Haddon was the angel baby who never cried, slept a ton, and played quietly.  Bo started "talking" (screeching and shrieking) at 6:30 am so we spent some time in the laundry room trying to keep him from waking everybody up!

Bo and I went on a little walk . . .

And he looked like a little old fisherman in his bucket hat.  But the mountain sun was hot!!  We all had pink noses after the weekend.

Meg and Esteban's rehearsal dinner was at Redfish Lake, near their wedding site.  We had a yummy barbecue and dark chocolate s'mores around a campfire.  So fun, and so beautiful!

Bo was cheesin' it up in his tie onesie and shorts after *ahem ruining his jeans.

And here's the sweet couple we were there to celebrate!  Megan and Esteban!

a friend from far, far away

I've been on a blogging break because Bo and I have been traveling out in the wild, wild west.  But before we left, we had the privilege of welcoming Jenny back to the USA!  My friend Jenny from both Taylor and Charlotte days moved to Kenya as I moved out (see here) and actually lived in the same little  house I did!  I was so excited to be her first stop in the States and hear all the news of Kijabe.  Bo and I were her welcoming committee at JFK and brought her a grand old flag to wave with pride.  (Also I had some pride that I'd made my first trip out to the airport, and got there right on time!)

She brought Bo this bib, among other things . . .

Which he tried to eat . . .

We took turns on baby duty so the other could get a little crafting in . . .

Jenny made me this:

We spent most of her three days here running errands, which is not really very fun.  Especially when it's hot.  And the baby has decided that he HATES his car seat.  Poor Jenny.

Poor Moosey.

I snapped this pic during one of the 'sit in the backseat and cajole the baby' sessions.

So finally on our last night here, I made sure we walked down to our waterfront to catch the sunset AND that we'd made a trip to my favorite ice cream spot.

And grabbed a shot of Jenny at the pier.  Long Island at it's best.

12 weeks

Leaving now for a jaunt to Idaho for Megan's wedding.  So thankful Jenny is flying with us!  Can't wait to see Erin and her baby!

And then it's off to OK to see the Andersons!

Prayers for this epic journey are appreciated.

We'll miss you so much, Daddy!

while daddy's at work

While Matt's at work, I try to text him lots of pictures of our adventures throughout the day.  He's in a really rough rotation right now so we try to cheer him up.  So here are some of the pics he's treated to:

morning grins in ducky pj's

the day mommy must've gone crazy to take a 2-month-old to the beach:

We didn't have a beach canopy yet so I rigged up this masterpiece:

and managed to achieve this:

until this ruined my day:
and my umbrella.

Have I showed you this one?  Pretty cute.

Bo's other swimsuit, pretty manly:

patriotic baby

I kind of forgot about these pictures from Bo's first 4th of July.

First of all, his Uncle Adam and friend Brandon were visiting for the weekend, so all sort of crazy stuff happened, like fried pickles and Bo riding Moose:

On the 4th Bo slept the longest sleep of his life, until 7:45, so both America and Erica were celebrating some independence that day!  (It has not happened since, but it was a nice treat!)  We roused everyone for the local parade, but Bo slept through the entire thing!

Which was kind of amazing because it featured like 30 different fire departments, each one loud and honky.

Just because Bo was sleeping didn't mean his stroller couldn't be patriotic. . .

We had a barbecue with church friends that afternoon and they lent us their Bumbo.  Bo looked so funny and relaxed in it with his arm draped over the side...

Tired hot family.
We love the USA!

my spot

I'd mentioned to Matt how I'd like a spot to sew, and one day I came home to a sewing table!  Matt made a table in our dining room that folded out on hinges, so we can use it as a buffet for our fancy meals (which rarely/never happens) and I can use the entire dining room as my crafting area, which is more often how you'll find the space.

Recently we found a big bolt of Waverly fabric at a garage sale that we took home for $3 and I made a skirt for the table to hide my sewing machine and bins behind.

So I'm headed there now to work on a couple different projects I've got going.
