tree huggers

If you're a tree hugger, you might want to you avert your eyes and go clicking off on your merry way.  A few weeks ago the lady who owns our rental property came out to look at some things and decided to take down some of the trees around our house, particularly some large evergreens that keep dumping their needles and clogging the gutters.  Basically our house was surrounded on all sides by trees, keeping it pretty dark (a negative) but a little cooler in the summer (a positive).

And then, they were gone.

We love this huge tree in front of our kitchen.

The only problem in my mind was how it prevented grass from growing and some of the branches were pushing up the shingles on the roof.

But the tree guys really went to town and removed some huge limbs, and the little cedar by the steps.

So it changed the look of the house a lot, and it was kind of sad to see the big tree altered.  But on a more positive note, we've got some flowers to cheer us up.

Matt's mom and brother put new potting soil in our planters when the baby was born and my mom planted these impatiens.  They just exploded and look great.

did you get to keep the trees for firewood for the cold winter months? that would make it extra worth-while. Your patio looks great. very inviting.
